About the role
Role Overview
Join Salesforce’s Endpoint Protection & Infrastructure Vulnerability Scanning team as a Principal Software Engineer (Platform Security). This is a hands-on role where you will shape system architecture, lead end-to-end software delivery, and set engineering standards across the organization.
Key Missions / Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end development for complex security-related data pipelines, driving architecture and engineering standards.
- Own architecture for vulnerability scanning and endpoint protection platforms, including writing System Design Records (SDRs) and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
- Design and build APIs and services for security platform capabilities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security architects, platform teams, and partner engineering orgs to ensure clean integration and dependency alignment.
- Mentor and guide Lead and Senior Engineers; support their technical growth.
- Deliver technical reporting and performance presentations to customers and at industry events.
- Improve infrastructure hardening and operational reliability (alerting, availability monitoring, MTTR reduction).
- Drive long-term design strategies for complex performance and scalability challenges.
- Foster cross-functional technical collaboration to surface, escalate, and resolve critical issues.
Requirements
- 10+ years of core software development experience with mastery across multiple languages/platforms.
- Strong software engineering process discipline (e.g., PR reviews, design reviews, sprint execution, documentation) with experience in Agile/Scrum.
- Strong foundation in database engineering, API development, and data pipeline construction.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
- Ability to design scalable systems and produce architectural artifacts (architecture reviews, documentation) and align across teams and leadership.
- Proven infrastructure reliability focus (alerting/monitoring/MTTR reduction).
- Related technical degree required.
- 5+ years in a computer network-related occupation.
- 2+ years experience in:
- Unix/Linux administration (including working with Windows environments and hardening guidelines)
- Cloud infrastructure including AWS, GCP, Azure (e.g., EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, EMR, IAM)
- Building and operating secure infrastructures
- Some experience in:
- Security disciplines (security engineering, vulnerability analysis, firewalls, encryption)
- TCP/IP networking, OSI stack, TCP, and SDN
- Automation using Python and Ruby
- Cryptographic standards and core protocols for secure implementations
- Host and network-based protection/detection technologies
- Network, host, and application security practices
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience delivering products released to public consumption across multiple releases.
- Experience with technical performance architecture and long-term multi-project design strategies.
