About the role
Principal Software Engineer (Technical Executive)
Fully remote “builder” role spanning the full technology stack—driving architecture, product delivery, and system reliability through hands-on execution.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features across the stack: frontend interfaces, backend services, data layers, and AI-powered capabilities
- Design and implement architecture: service boundaries, data models, caching strategies, and infrastructure topology
- Own production systems end-to-end: diagnose and resolve issues across application servers, job workers, databases, and distributed systems
- Integrate AI capabilities into production: prototype, evaluate models, and deploy behind scalable APIs
- Develop and optimize data/ML pipelines: model training workflows and inference systems (performance, cost, scalability)
- Build payment & billing systems: subscription logic, webhook processing, and financial reconciliation
- Contribute across all layers: database migrations, API design, UI components, testing, and deployment workflows
- Establish engineering best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation
- Mentor and support engineers to unblock complex technical challenges
Requirements
- 8+ years shipping complex production systems
- Strong full-stack expertise: modern frontend frameworks, backend APIs, database design, and infrastructure management
- Proven ability to work across UI → backend → infrastructure
- Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML into production (model serving and inference pipelines)
- Experience building systems handling financial transactions (payments, subscriptions, reconciliation)
- Deep production experience: debugging performance, analyzing logs/metrics, maintaining reliability at scale
- Ability to design and scale systems under growing demand; strong system design skills and tradeoff evaluation
- Can operate independently and take ownership of high-impact decisions
Nice to Have
- Workflow orchestration / distributed job processing systems
- Self-managed infrastructure experience
- Experience with media/creator platforms or content-heavy systems
- Experience with cryptocurrency or alternative payment systems
Technology Stack (provided)
- React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
- Node.js/NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Redis
- Temporal, Docker, Linux, plus cloud/storage platforms
- Python/PyTorch for AI pipelines
- Monitoring/observability and CI/CD tooling
Compensation
Typically $195K–$215K depending on experience.
