About the role

Role Overview

Principal Software Engineer (Full-Stack) on Ollie’s Core Platform team. You’ll work in a small, collaborative environment building and scaling the systems that power Ollie’s subscription platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, interfaces, and technical infrastructure for the subscription platform
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle (planning → implementation → deployment → maintenance)
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers in an agile environment to deliver high-quality features
  • Integrate 3rd-party services to enhance functionality and customer experience
  • Write reliable, performant, well-tested code that scales with the business
  • Continuously improve systems via refactoring, performance optimization, and automation
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical discussions
  • Troubleshoot production issues to keep the platform stable and resilient
  • Stay curious and explore new tools/tech to improve developer experience and product quality

What You Are

  • 7+ years professional experience building applications in a Python framework (e.g., Django, Flask)
  • 10+ years experience building API systems, including:
    • REST
    • OAuth2
    • Integrations with 3rd-party services using REST APIs and JSON
  • Experience with a JavaScript frontend framework (e.g., React or Angular)
  • Experience with a relational database and SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Strong understanding of time/maintainability/quality trade-offs
  • Experience writing unit tests
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience using AI models and tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) while maintaining strict quality control
  • Self-starter who enjoys working with a small, dedicated team
