About the role
Role Overview
Principal Software Engineer – Frontend, Developer Experience at Chronosphere (a Palo Alto Networks company). You will build and evolve the Developer Experience (DevEx) for an industrial-scale observability SaaS platform, helping software engineers diagnose and resolve incidents with confidence.
The role is remote, with hybrid teams collaborating across geographies.
Responsibilities
- Drive development of user experiences that surface critical insights quickly, streamline troubleshooting, and reduce cognitive load during incident response.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering peers to translate complex observability data into intuitive interfaces and workflows.
- Challenge designs, incorporate user feedback, and own the quality of what you ship.
- Work across the org to evolve the architecture powering UIs and APIs using TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Node.js.
- Contribute to shared accountability with UI-focused engineers by building/maintaining automated tests, tooling, and deployment infrastructure to improve efficiency.
- Mentor colleagues on engineering reliable, performant, high-quality user experiences.
- Help shape product direction and evolve overall platform architecture for product and scale needs.
Requirements
- Ability to independently own projects from inception to delivery while collaborating with product managers and UX designers.
- Experience with observability tools and/or working with large-scale distributed systems.
- Curiosity and motivation to learn deep, complex domains.
