About the role
Role Overview
Principal Software Engineer (Frontend, Developer Experience) at Palo Alto Networks’ Chronosphere team, focused on improving the developer experience across an industrial-scale SaaS observability platform.
You’ll help software engineers diagnose and resolve incidents with confidence by building intuitive, fast, reliable user experiences that turn large volumes of telemetry into actionable visualizations and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Drive development of user experiences that surface critical insights quickly, streamline troubleshooting, and reduce cognitive load during incidents.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate complex observability data into intuitive interfaces and workflows.
- Question designs, incorporate user feedback, and own the quality of what you ship.
- Evolve the architecture powering the UIs and APIs using TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Node.js.
- Partner with engineers across the organization to improve efficiency through automated tests, tooling, and deployment infrastructure.
- Mentor colleagues through direct mentorship and engineering infrastructure improvements to deliver reliable, performant, high-quality UI experiences.
- Contribute to product direction and help evolve platform architecture to meet product and scale needs.
Requirements
- Ability to independently own projects end-to-end (inception to delivery) while collaborating with PMs and UX/design.
- Experience with observability tools and/or working with large-scale distributed systems.
- Curiosity and motivation to learn deep, complex domains.
