Role overview

Join Elastic’s Platform Engineering team as a Principal Software Engineer on the Traffic team. You’ll help craft, build, and continuously improve a multi-cloud platform at scale, focusing on reliability, resilience, and security.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement technical solutions by coding and innovating platform designs.
Improve resilience through prioritizing security, bug fixes, and new features.
Lead technical initiatives to automate network engineering efforts to ensure the reliability of Elastic’s global infrastructure.
Collaborate in a distributed, inclusive environment with a focus on operational perfection and uplifting others.

Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience with proven product success delivering cloud network solutions.
Authority-level experience partnering with engineers to identify, implement, and deliver solutions across teams.
Customer-first mindset for solving operational problems for today and the future.
Experience designing and building SaaS products in public cloud, ideally using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Crossplane or Terraform).
Experience building Kubernetes infrastructure at scale, ideally across multiple cloud providers, including supporting automation.
Experience writing product features/functions in Golang (or other languages).
Proven results leading and improving cross-team engineering initiatives.
Experience with containerized services (e.g., Docker).
Strong Linux system administration skills on distributed systems at scale.
Experience diagnosing or designing solutions with the Elastic Stack.
Experience working in self-organizing, globally distributed teams.

Nice to have

Experience with public cloud managed Kubernetes services.
Experience with Crossplane or Terraform specifically.
Background strengthening teams through coaching and mentoring (explicitly valued).
Experience with solutions requiring distributed-team/inclusive communication practices.
