Role Overview
Join Dropbox as a Principal Software Engineer to tackle company-critical technical problems with multi-year impact. You will set the long-term technical direction for customer-facing experiences, lead the responsible introduction and adoption of AI, and align technical roadmaps across organizations.
Key Missions

- Lead the responsible introduction and adoption of AI across product capabilities and engineering workflows.
- Influence and align roadmaps across organizations by resolving structural bottlenecks.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive solutions to company-critical technical problems.
- Influence long-term technical strategy and standards adopted across teams.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to senior engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong experience building consumer-facing products at scale, with deep understanding of UX, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Broad, deep technical expertise across multiple domains (e.g., frontend, mobile, search, databases, storage systems, concurrency, distributed systems).
- 15+ years designing, building, and evolving large-scale software systems with sustained impact across teams/organizations.
- Proven track record leading introduction of new technologies (e.g., AI/ML) into core products and engineering workflows.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience demonstrating deep technical mastery.
- Principal-level success owning critical problems and influencing long-term technical direction.
- Practical production experience with modern ML, LLM-based APIs, and agentic frameworks, including judgment around quality, cost, and risk.

- Experience in highly distributed, virtual-first global engineering organizations.
- Experience defining and scaling company-wide platforms or architectural standards adopted across multiple organizations.
