Principal Software Engineer

Role Overview

You’ll be a Principal Frontend Engineer (fully remote across the EU) partnering with a product-led SaaS company to define and scale the frontend platform in a multi-product environment. This is an IC leadership role focused on architecture, standards, and frontend excellence at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the frontend vision across the organization
• Define and evolve frontend architecture and long-term technical strategy
• Lead cross-team initiatives such as:
  • design systems
  • micro-frontends
  • platform improvements
• Set standards for performance, accessibility (a11y), and usability
• Improve developer experience and engineering tooling
• Partner with Product and Design to deliver scalable, high-quality UI experiences
• Mentor senior engineers and act as a technical multiplier across teams
• Identify and address technical debt and scalability challenges
• Influence senior leadership on frontend strategy and direction

Requirements

• 10+ years in frontend engineering with architectural leadership experience
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Experience leading large-scale frontend transformations (e.g., micro-frontends, design systems)
• Strong understanding of performance, accessibility (a11y), and testing strategies
• Experience with modern build tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to influence across Engineering, Product, and Design
• Experience in cloud-based, distributed systems environments

Nice to Have

• Design tooling experience (e.g., Figma, component libraries)
• Exposure to micro-frontend architectures or platform refactors
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve engineering productivity
