Principal Product Manager (R13685)

Role Overview

Principal Product Manager for the Lending Platform at Oportun. You will lead the Partnerships program and drive key marketing-related product capabilities, partnering closely with business and marketing teams.

This is a leadership role responsible for 0–1 product launches, with a strong focus on product strategy, execution, and cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Customer insights & validation: Understand customer needs using user research, surveys, and feedback loops; translate insights into product enhancements.
• Product vision & strategy: Define multi-year vision and OKRs with leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Growth execution: Plan, run, and iterate experiments across funnels/channels to improve acquisition, activation, conversion, and retention.
• Execution & delivery: Lead cross-functional teams across Product, Design, Engineering, ML, and Business (Marketing, Risk, Fraud) to deliver measurable impact.
• Risk management: Partner with compliance and risk teams to ensure regulatory and industry best-practice adherence.
• Communication & leadership: Create the product narrative, align executives on decisions, and communicate priorities, risks, and trade-offs (including external partners in India).

Requirements

• 12+ years total experience, including 7–10+ years in product management in high-growth environments.
• Strong customer-centric mindset focused on improving members’ financial health.
• Analytical problem solver with experience in testing & experimentation, metrics definition, and data analysis.
• Proven ability to ship, iterate, and build consensus across cross-functional partners; comfortable with shifting priorities.
• Excellent communication and documentation.
• 0–1 experience bringing new products (customer- or partner-facing) to market in financial services.
