Principal Product Manager (R13684)

Role Overview

Principal Product Manager responsible for driving product innovation at Oportun. You will own and execute a multi-year journey to leverage GenAI and other leading technologies to improve business growth, performance, and the customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to craft long-term product strategy.
• Scope and lead development of new product features that improve users’ financial health.
• Analyze data and conduct user research to form and test hypotheses and deepen understanding of customer needs and behaviors.
• Manage a high-performing cross-functional product team (engineering, design, data, marketing, legal, and customer support) to build and launch new features.
• Drive clear communication and alignment across the organization.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of product management experience in high-growth environments.
• Strong track record in financial services (FinTech/challenger bank experience preferred).
• Customer-centric mindset focused on improving members’ financial health.
• Analytical problem-solving with experience using testing/experimentation, defining metrics, and data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to ship, iterate, and build consensus across cross-functional partners.
• Excellent communication and strong documentation skills.
• Scrappy, execution-focused approach to removing blockers and delivering value.
