About the role

Role overview

As Principal Product Manager at BetterUp, you will own a product area end-to-end and act as the Mini-Founder / CEO of your domain. You will drive product-market fit while leading a cross-functional pod and spending 50%+ of your time customer-facing.

Key missions

Own a product area end-to-end, driving product-market fit and integrating your work into the broader product portfolio
Spend 50%+ time in customer sessions: solution design discussions, product demos, and strategic conversations
Lead a cross-functional pod by setting product direction and ensuring alignment across teams

Requirements

8+ years in product management or related roles, including 4+ years leading product direction at the team/product-area level
Experience building B2B2C products (enterprise buyer needs + end-user experience)
Direct, sustained customer exposure in enterprise contexts; ability to build economic buyer relationships and use that input to guide product direction
Proven product-market fit ownership: diagnosing what isn’t working, changing course, and making it land (not just shipping features)
AI-native fluency: build working prototypes/demos with AI tools (modify prompts, adjust UI flows, run data analyses without excessive ticketing)
Executive presence and strong storytelling to build trust and influence stakeholders
Strong product vision and strategy; ability to deliver in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Relentless agency and internal locus of control (own outcomes and fix issues)
Product taste and ability to influence positioning/marketing/branding beyond roadmap
Effective team leadership and mentoring
Strong cross-functional collaboration (Engineering, Design, Sales, Services)
Customer-centric product development expertise with focus on solution design and innovation

Nice-to-haves

Domain expertise in organizational transformation, human transformation, talent intelligence, or related fields
Builder PM / Commercial PM background in B2B2C or enterprise SaaS
Former founders or early employees from high-growth startups
Solution design experience from consulting, customer-facing product roles, or implementations
