Principal Product Manager (AI Creation & Growth)

Role Overview

Join Smartsheet as a Principal Product Manager (AI Creation & Growth). You will lead strategy and high-impact investments across Smartsheet’s AI-powered creation experiences and product-led growth (PLG), including activation, output quality, and the feedback loop.

Key Missions

• Own the AI creation product surface: lead AI-driven asset generation, intelligent model recommendations, and the overall creation experience.
• Define and drive the activation strategy: set the vision for how AI reduces time-to-value for new users.
• Improve AI output quality: define standards for AI-generated content and partner with Engineering and Design.
• Build the PLG feedback loop: connect product signals to iteration and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional collaboration to deliver AI creation and growth outcomes.
• Set success metrics, run experiments, and make judgment calls with incomplete data.
• Communicate a compelling vision and attention to detail across written, verbal, and visual formats.

Requirements

• Deep curiosity about AI: strong understanding of generative AI and LLMs; ability to debate and work effectively with engineers.
• Data fluency: define success metrics, design experiments, and decide when data is incomplete.
• Enterprise product sensibility: balance enterprise constraints with end-user delight.
• Proven PLG instincts: experience owning activation/onboarding/self-serve growth metrics.
• Track record of shipping: take complex, ambiguous initiatives from 0→1 and scale.
• Experience level: 8–10+ years product management, including 2+ years owning AI/ML-powered product experiences.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with content generation, document intelligence, or AI-assisted creation products.
• Background in template ecosystems, marketplaces, or recommendation systems.
• Familiarity with onboarding funnel analytics tools such as Amplitude or Mixpanel.
