About the role
Role Overview
Papa is hiring a Principal Product Designer (Elder Care) to architect and lead end-to-end product and service design for a multi-actor care ecosystem for older adults and family caregivers. Reporting to the CTO, this is a hands-on design leadership role focused on experience and service architecture, accessible design systems, and research-driven iteration.
Responsibilities
- Architect offline-to-online service journeys, translating digital requests into real-world human connections.
- Lead D2C and referral experience design to optimize conversion while maintaining a warm, personal care brand.
- Design multi-actor programs and services with measurable outcomes for members and families.
- Build high-fidelity, logic-rich prototypes using tools such as Figma, Framer, Webflow, or similar.
- Evolve and maintain an accessible design system compliant with WCAG 2.1+ across mobile and web.
- Conduct qualitative and ethnographic research with members, “Papa Pals,” and caregivers to uncover unmet needs.
- Facilitate cross-functional design sprints and co-creation workshops with Engineering, Data, Product, Operations, and partners.
- Translate research insights and health outcomes data into actionable design improvements.
- Represent Design at the executive level and help co-author design, technology, and business strategy with the CTO.
- Mentor designers and uphold design quality across the organization.
- Own the full product design lifecycle from discovery through post-launch monitoring and iteration.
Requirements
- 10+ years designing complex human-services products (e.g., healthcare, education, hospitality).
- Expert mastery of Figma and proven ability to prototype complex logic flows.
- Ability to shape strategy upstream of engineering using clear visual artifacts and narratives.
- Strong storytelling and executive presentation skills; can defend decisions with empathy and technical logic.
- Demonstrated end-to-end design process expertise: ethnographic research, synthesis, prototyping, delivery, post-launch analysis.
- Experience maintaining accessible (WCAG 2.1+) multi-platform design systems.
- Familiarity with research and analytics tools (e.g., UserTesting, Dovetail, Hotjar/FullStory, Mixpanel, Segment, Amplitude).
- Comfortable using AI-native tools to accelerate workflow and quality.
- Proficiency with service blueprinting/journey mapping tools (e.g., Miro, Lucidchart, FigJam).
Nice to Have
- Direct-to-consumer product experience, CMS frameworks, and HIPAA compliance.
- Experience in age tech or caregiver platforms.
- Experience with referral/self-pay funnels focused on trust-building.
