About the role

Role Overview

Join Twilio’s Strategic Communication team as a Principal Presales Engineer. You’ll lead technical pre-sales engagements, propose solution architectures, demonstrate the product, and help build customer trust in Twilio solutions—while staying effective and avoiding being a single point of failure.

Responsibilities

Lead technical pre-sales: manage the technical relationship and guide customers through solution fit.
Propose architectures: design and present technical architectures and creative solutions.
Product demonstrations: demonstrate Twilio capabilities and help customers evaluate the solution.
Run end-to-end pre-sales motions with Account Executives:
- opportunity qualification
- demonstrations
- Proof-of-Concept (PoC)
- RFP responses
- design documentation
- technical presentations and enablement sessions
Anticipate and address concerns and act as a trusted advisor to customers.
Provide thought leadership and help grow peers/partners across departments and the Solutions Engineering community.

Requirements

Solutions engineering / presales experience: minimum 8+ years in a solutions engineering (presales) role for complex technical products, or 10+ years supporting technical products with strong customer-facing experience (delivery/consulting).
Web development fundamentals: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js, Angular.
REST API experience.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to communicate strategy and influence stakeholders internally and externally.
Customer-focused problem solving and ability to balance innovation with customer best interests.
Technical degree (Bachelors and/or Masters in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.
Backend experience in one or more: Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP.
Familiarity with cloud platforms and cloud application architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals

Experience managing strategic accounts and evangelizing new use cases in regulated verticals.
Prior experience in Telecom, SIP, Contact Center, or Security.
