About the role

Role overview

As a Principal Platform Architect at Alteryx, you will lead cross-cutting architectural initiatives across the entire software stack. You’ll partner with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to translate complex, evolving platform or infrastructure changes into concrete, deliverable systems.

Responsibilities

Lead large-scale, transversal architectural efforts spanning multiple teams and systems
Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, and product teams to convert infrastructure/platform changes into requirements for application teams
Align multiple teams around a shared architectural direction, making clear and pragmatic decisions in ambiguous environments
Bridge platform and application teams and enable execution across teams
Drive alignment and decision-making by influencing without formal authority
Assess system interactions, APIs, and integration points at scale
Engage hands-on with systems to unblock progress and validate ideas
Lead migrations and cross-team technical changes (e.g., cloud/platform migrations)
Define and evolve internal platform standards and/or developer workflows

Requirements

Proven ability to make trade-offs across teams, systems, and timelines
Experience building and evolving complex distributed systems across multiple teams
Hands-on mindset and strong software engineering background
Platform and infrastructure understanding; ability to translate infrastructure concerns into software architecture decisions
Strong communication skills across diverse technical domains
Track record influencing and driving alignment without authority
Ability to reason about distributed systems interactions and integration at scale
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred), Kubernetes, and distributed systems
Experience operating in ambiguous environments with evolving constraints
Ability to assess impact across many services and teams

Nice-to-haves

Background in data platforms or analytics systems
Familiarity with internal developer platforms (IDPs)
