About the role

Role overview

Principal Mobile Engineer, Android (US remote) is a high-impact senior individual contributor role focused on shaping and scaling next-generation mobile experiences for consumer lending products. You will lead Android migration efforts and help define the long-term mobile architecture across native Android and cross-platform environments, including React Native.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Android migration and development initiatives across multiple product surfaces.
  • Define and drive mobile architecture decisions across native Android and React Native ecosystems.
  • Convert product/business priorities into clear technical milestones and execution plans aligned to aggressive release timelines.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to deliver cohesive, user-centric mobile solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership via design reviews, architecture discussions, and mentorship across engineering teams.
  • Support post-launch mobile platform evolution across both Android and React Native codebases.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Deep expertise shipping native Android apps using Kotlin and/or Java.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale mobile initiatives, platform migrations, or production mobile launches.
  • Track record delivering consumer-facing mobile apps with strong performance, reliability, and UX.
  • Working knowledge of React Native and TypeScript; comfortable operating across hybrid mobile stacks.
  • Demonstrated principal/senior-level technical leadership, including architecture ownership and cross-team influence.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to drive alignment in ambiguous environments.

Preferred

  • Experience in fintech or complex consumer applications.
  • Exposure to iOS or broader cross-platform mobile development.
