Principal Kubernetes Engineer

Role Overview

Moon Tiger is seeking a Principal Kubernetes Engineer to serve as the senior technical anchor for one of four platform environments. You will design, build, and continuously improve secure enterprise Kubernetes services that help application teams rapidly develop, deploy, and operate mission-critical software across hybrid cloud and on-premises.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate enterprise Kubernetes platforms for secure hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.
• Architect scalable, highly available, and resilient platform services for secure software delivery across mission environments.
• Create reusable platform capabilities to simplify application deployment, operations, and lifecycle management.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and continuous delivery to improve consistency, reliability, and efficiency.
• Engineer secure Kubernetes services (identity management, policy enforcement, workload isolation, secrets management, platform hardening).
• Optimize performance, scalability, networking, storage, resource utilization, and overall operational health.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, storage, and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and software teams to deliver integrated platform solutions.
• Improve observability with metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and proactive monitoring.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements for capabilities, developer experience, security, and operations.
• Produce engineering standards, technical documentation, and architectural guidance for long-term maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership via architecture reviews, design discussions, mentoring, and best practices.

Requirements (Must Haves)

• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience designing, building, and operating production Kubernetes (posting truncates after this point).
