Principal Frontend Platform Engineer

Role Overview

Principal Frontend Platform Engineer to lead frontend architecture, engineering standards, and platform strategy across Medical Guardian’s Unified App Platform (web and mobile). This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role partnering with Product, UX, Platform Engineering, AI/ML, Security, and backend services.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Platform Engineering

• Lead frontend architecture for enterprise web and mobile applications using React, Next.js, and React Native.
• Create scalable, modular, reusable UI components aligned to the enterprise Design System and component governance.
• Architect and implement Sanity.io headless CMS integrations for structured, multilingual, dynamic content.
• Design secure authentication and identity flows using FusionAuth, OAuth2/OIDC, MFA, SSO, and RBAC.
• Apply secure development principles and healthcare compliance considerations to frontend architecture, including HIPAA, PHI handling, HITRUST, and PCI-DSS.
• Define frontend platform standards for performance, scalability, accessibility, resiliency, and security.
• Define and evolve frontend CI/CD standards: automated testing, deployment workflows, release governance, environment management, and production rollout.
• Drive adoption of modern frontend architecture patterns:
  • SSR/ISR
  • Edge rendering
  • Micro frontends
  • PWA capabilities
• Establish frontend observability standards: telemetry, error tracking, performance monitoring, distributed tracing, and UX analytics.

Leadership & Engineering Excellence

• Serve as the principal technical authority and mentor across multiple frontend engineering pods.
• Establish/enforce coding standards, architectural governance, testing practices, and secure development patterns.
• Own the frontend platform technical roadmap (modernization, technical debt reduction, and communicating strategy/progress to leadership).
• Improve developer experience via tooling, local workflows, CI/CD automation, automated testing, engineering documentation, and release enablement.
• Partner with platform and security teams to mature CI/CD pipelines, secure workflows, quality gates, and frontend release processes.

Requirements

• Proven ability to architect and deliver modern, scalable frontend applications across React/Next.js/React Native.
• Experience designing frontend standards for governance, security (including auth patterns), and observability.
• Hands-on leadership with strong architectural direction and the ability to contribute to critical implementation and proof-of-concepts.
• Understanding of healthcare/security/compliance considerations including HIPAA/PHI, HITRUST, and PCI-DSS.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Sanity.io (headless CMS) and structured/multilingual content delivery.
• Experience with FusionAuth and OAuth2/OIDC-based authentication.
• Experience with micro frontends, SSR/ISR, edge rendering, and PWA capabilities.
