About the role

Role Overview

Principal Frontend Engineer (hands-on) to build and shape the user-facing side of Xe’s cross-border payments products. You’ll bring deep modern frontend expertise, help drive technical direction, mentor other developers, and partner with designers and stakeholders to deliver polished, intuitive interfaces.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain high-quality, maintainable frontend applications using Vue 3+ and TypeScript.
Architect scalable frontend solutions with clean code practices.
Conduct thorough code reviews and uphold team-wide code quality standards.
Mentor developers on best practices, architecture, and clean coding habits.
Create responsive, accessible UI using Tailwind CSS, HTML5, and CSS3.
Write and maintain unit & integration tests using Vitest.
Use modern build tooling/bundlers such as Vite.
Collaborate with designers to translate UX/UI concepts into intuitive experiences.
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment and contribute to technical decisions.
Use AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code / Copilot) to improve delivery and effectiveness.
Communicate clearly with engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

5+ years building production software.
Proficiency in Vue (3+) (ideal) or strong experience with React/Angular plus desire to switch to Vue.
Strong TypeScript knowledge.
Strong frontend architecture and clean code habits.
Excellent code review and mentoring experience.
Experience with Tailwind CSS.
Unit testing experience with Vitest or Jest.
Understanding of JS build tools and bundlers like Vite/Rollup/Webpack.
Strong fundamentals in HTML5/CSS3 and responsive web design.
Ability to collaborate with designers using UX/UI principles.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum.
Open mindset for using AI coding tools.
Strong written and verbal communication.

Nice to Have

Experience with PostCSS/SASS/SCSS.
Playwright for end-to-end testing.
Storybook for component-driven development and UI documentation.
Payments/FX/regulated-industry experience.
