Principal Frontend Engineer

Role overview

ClickUp is hiring a Principal Frontend Engineer (full remote) to drive the long-term technical vision for frontend engineering. You’ll lead architecture strategy, tackle company-wide frontend challenges, and help teams build and ship scalable systems at high velocity.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead frontend architecture strategy across multiple product areas and platform investments
• Design scalable, high-performance systems in Angular (2+) and React
• Provide technical leadership for the highest-impact initiatives and unblock teams facing ambiguous/difficult problems
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and influence how teams work across the organization
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, backend, and integrations leadership

Requirements

• Hands-on technical leadership operating at both strategic and implementation levels
• Strong mentoring background and drive to build high-performing engineering organizations
• Experience designing testing infrastructure and testing strategies for large-scale feature changes
• Excellent communication and cross-functional influence skills
• Strong judgment balancing speed, quality, and long-term architecture
• Deep expertise in performance optimization, frontend scalability, maintainable application design, and reusable component architecture
• Proven track record architecting complex frontend systems used by many users

Experience

• 10+ years of frontend engineering experience
• Expert-level experience with Angular 2+, React, TypeScript, RxJS, and NgRx (or similar state management)
