Principal Engineer (GenAI Solutions)

Role Overview

Join Placer.ai as a Principal Engineer (GenAI Solutions) to lead the technical vision and architecture of an AI-powered location intelligence platform. You will oversee end-to-end conversational GenAI systems and establish the foundation for next-generation business intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

• Own technical vision and architecture decisions for GenAI products, ensuring scalability and performance.
• Design and implement end-to-end AI systems from prototype to production, including LLM integration and agentic architectures.
• Oversee model deployment, fine-tuning, and optimization in production.
• Ensure responsible AI practices and implement guardrails.
• Manage MLOps activities such as model versioning, A/B testing, monitoring model performance, and end-to-end ML lifecycle management.
• Build and optimize data pipelines / ETL and data infrastructure to support AI/ML workloads.
• Architect and deliver full-stack LLM-powered applications, including real-time data streaming and WebSocket integrations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 1+ years building production GenAI solutions in B2B SaaS environments.
• Strong expertise in RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems and semantic search.
• Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, and ChromaDB.
• Proven experience with agentic AI architectures (e.g., tool calling, memory systems, multi-step reasoning).
• Hands-on development using LangChain, LlamaIndex, and LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models).
• Demonstrated track record taking GenAI solutions from prototype to production, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and responsible AI guardrails.
• Expert backend engineering skills in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js, with experience designing microservices and deploying on AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Strong understanding of frontend technologies including React/Next.js and TypeScript.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Nice to Have

• Depth across the full stack (real-time streaming + WebSockets) and strong cloud-native architecture experience across multiple services.
