Principal Engineer (f/x/m)

Role overview

Principal Engineer (f/x/m) at spotixx. You will own the architecture of the core data-sharing platform and remain hands-on in the highest-risk parts of delivery, while raising the engineering bar through design reviews and direction.

Responsibilities

• Own systems design end-to-end, including architecture, data models, contracts, integration boundaries, and the associated trade-offs
• Stay hands-on by shipping code in the most critical/high-risk areas
• Set and uphold design standards: architectural, security, and verification patterns; run design reviews
• Design for security and scale for banking-grade load and scrutiny
• Increase team technical output via guidance, design reviews, and pairing
• Build AI leverage safely with agentic workflows plus evals and guardrails for reliable shipping
• Represent spotixx technically with customers (workshops, due diligence) with bank architects, CISOs, and risk teams in German and English
• Partner on strategy and prioritization with senior management and your manager

Requirements

• 8+ years building production software; deeply experienced, hands-on technologist able to own systems design and still code
• German and English fluency (both essential) for engagements with German banks
• Experience delivering systems in large enterprise contexts (corporates or vendors supplying them), including enterprise architecture reviews, security assessments, and change control
• Strong systems design across distributed systems, services, contracts, data, and integrations
• AI-forward: you use coding agents / AI-assisted building (in work or personal projects)
• Proven ability to raise engineers through influence, design review, and example
• Senior-management maturity: translate technical risk into actionable business terms; stay credible and calm with bank architects and risk functions
• Security-minded: secure-by-design and familiarity with OAuth/OIDC and banking-appropriate data protection
• Quality/verification rigor: design for verifiability and verification
• Regulated industry experience (banking or FinTech is a major bonus)
• Cloud experience: GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable; familiarity with IaC, containers, and CI/CD
