About the role

Principal DevOps Engineer

Join Oviva to set the technical direction and multi-year strategy for the organization’s infrastructure and platform. You’ll partner with engineering leadership and lead critical architectural efforts to ensure scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, and cloud readiness.

Key missions

Partner with Engineering leadership to define technical direction and a multi-year infrastructure/platform strategy.
Serve as technical owner and lead architect for critical systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security.
Drive infrastructure cost-efficiency and sustainable spend as the business grows.
Build self-service capabilities so teams can operate independently.
Own key external technology relationships, including evaluating, selecting, and managing cloud and infrastructure providers.
Mentor and develop senior/staff engineers; grow operational maturity through reliability engineering.

Responsibilities / profile expectations

Provide deep expertise across infrastructure domains: container orchestration, cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, networking, observability, and continuous delivery.
Demonstrate strong reliability engineering: high availability design, incident response leadership, and operational maturity.
Translate business goals into actionable technical strategy, anticipating future changes.
Maintain a security-first approach, including embedding compliance into platforms in regulated environments.

Requirements

Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
Proven visionary technical leadership with long-term, business-impacting outcomes.
Expertise designing/building/operating large-scale, business-critical distributed systems.
Strong DevOps and continuous delivery mindset, including automation of release processes and improved workflow/release efficiency.
Experience communicating complex technical concepts and influencing both technical and non-technical/executive audiences.
Hands-on curiosity and experimentation with cutting-edge technologies.

Nice to have

Experience presenting at external tech talks/meetups/conferences.
Leadership in major open-source projects or industry standards bodies.
Experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare.
