Principal DevOps Engineer

Role overview

Join Ohalo as a Principal DevOps Engineer. You will partner with engineers across the organization to enable the wider technology team to focus on product development by improving deployment, environment provisioning, and benchmarking.

Key missions

• Collaborate with engineers to improve deployment pipelines and configuration (Data X-Ray).
• Work with Customer Success engineers and Solution Architects to ensure delivery meets client needs.
• Ensure applications follow best practices for deployment, logging, monitoring, and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, propose, and implement improvements to deployment pipelines.
• Provision and manage environments for reliable operations.
• Implement benchmarking solutions.
• Maintain best practices across deployment strategies, observability, and security.
• Represent client-focused needs internally to support delivery outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong problem-solving mindset: communicative, resourceful, trustworthy, and self-driven.
• AI-forward thinking and willingness to experiment by adopting AI pragmatically in workflows.
• Client-focused approach for both external customers and internal stakeholders.
• Remote availability with a timezone overlap with London (~4 hours/day).
• On-the-job experience with container and deployment/IaC tools, e.g.:
  • Docker or Podman
  • Ansible and/or other IaC tools
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, GCP, or Hetzner.
• Thorough understanding of networking and security fundamentals, including:
  • Load balancer configuration
  • Certificates issuance
  • VPC configuration
• Knowledge of best practices for on-prem deployment and operations, including:
  • Blue/green deployment
  • Database recovery management
  • Monitoring and logging tools

Nice to have

• Experience with a broader range of deployment and operations patterns/tools in small-team environments where prioritization and “future proofing” matter.
