About the role

Role Overview

Principal Design Engineer at AlphaSense (Full remote). You will define and build high-quality product experiences by translating complex data and AI capabilities into intuitive, user-centered workflows. As a senior leader on the Design team, you’ll mentor others and help raise the bar for design craft and collaboration.

Key Missions

Lead design and development of high-fidelity, coded prototypes and interaction models for complex, AI-powered workflows.
Own high-impact initiatives from concept through production, ensuring outcomes meet both user and business needs.
Lead within the Design team: mentor designers and engineers, provide constructive feedback, and strengthen a collaborative design culture.

Responsibilities

Partner with Product Managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to shape technical and design decisions.
Improve product usability by applying end-to-end customer workflows and user-centered design principles.
Help “turn new users into habitual users” through strong experience design.

Requirements

Production shipping experience and proven ability to influence technical and design choices across teams.
Track record of project leadership, mentorship, and delivering constructive feedback.
Excellent communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong user-centered design skills and ability to map customer workflows end-to-end.
12+ years of experience in product design, UX/design, front-end engineering, design systems, or related.
Hands-on experience with modern front-end technologies: HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React.
Experience working with and evolving design systems.
Ability to build AI and agentic experiences, leveraging AI to speed up and augment design/development processes.
Expertise applying modern AI technologies to design problems (examples mentioned: MCP, Claude Code, Codex, Skills).
Bachelor’s degree or higher (degree in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, or HCI preferred).

Nice-to-Haves

Demonstrated experience specifically with AI/agentic design and production-grade AI-assisted workflows.
