Principal Data Scientist (Growth and Membership Operations)

Role Overview

Principal Data Scientist partnering with Growth and Membership Operations at Devoted Health. You will define success for ambiguous business problems and build the analytical foundations—data models, metrics, pipelines, and modeling solutions—that drive measurable operational performance.

Key Missions

• Frame ambiguous problems and translate business challenges into measurable analytical strategies.
• Own and evolve scalable data models, pipelines, and core metrics for Sales and Membership Operations.
• Build and iterate analytical + modeling solutions, shipping quickly and refining systems based on real-world feedback.

Responsibilities

• Define both the question and the measurement approach.
• Develop durable, maintainable analytics systems (not just one-off analyses).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex problems and influence decisions with data-driven insights.
• Apply statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and/or experimental design to guide business strategy.
• Perform live analysis and collaborative debugging with stakeholders.
• Incorporate ML/AI tools into operational workflows when appropriate.

Requirements

• 7+ years as an individual technical contributor.
• Strong ability to work across SQL, modeling, experimentation, and strategic conversations.
• Deep experience with modern data ecosystems, including SQL and tools such as Snowflake and dbt, plus Python and Looker (or similar).
• Comfort building scalable, maintainable data pipelines and conducting deep statistical analysis.
• Evidence of partnering with stakeholders across the organization.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in healthcare, insurance, fintech, or other complex operational domains.
• Familiarity with sales, marketing, or membership operations data or regulated environments.
• Experience using AI/LLMs as practical tools to accelerate problem-solving (grounded in fundamentals and strong data modeling).
