Role overview

Principal Data Engineer (individual contributor) at Waymark. You will set the technical direction for a clinical data platform by designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and transform clinical data from diverse EHR and payer systems.

Responsibilities

Architect production-grade data pipelines integrating clinical data from multiple sources, including:
- Direct EHR connections (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth)
- Health Information Exchanges (HIEs)
- Health alliance networks
- Third-party integration vendors
Lead technical design and optimization of pipelines for ingestion, normalization, and transformation of healthcare data.
Ingest and harmonize data across diverse EHR and payer systems to support downstream clinical and analytics needs.
Report to data engineering leadership and drive technical direction for the clinical data platform.

Requirements

Highly experienced data engineering background with strong backend engineering fundamentals.
Specialized expertise in Electronic Health Record (EHR) data integration.

Nice-to-haves

Experience working with clinical data integrations across multiple healthcare systems and partners.
