About the role
Role Overview
Principal Cloud Engineer (Remote - United States; EST preferred but not required). You will lead the cloud infrastructure strategy and act as the technical authority for architecting, designing, and operating a scalable, secure, high-performance cloud environment for a B2B SaaS platform.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the cloud infrastructure strategy, roadmap, and architecture, aligned to business goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers, promoting innovation and continuous learning.
- Architect and implement highly available, scalable, secure solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Evaluate and recommend new cloud services/technologies to improve performance, reliability, and operational outcomes.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to design cloud-native architectures and optimize for performance and cost.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Establish and enforce security best practices, including compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Monitor cloud systems continuously to identify and remediate performance bottlenecks, vulnerabilities, and failure risks.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for cloud architecture discussions and reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge/best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years as a Cloud Engineer (or similar), with experience deploying/managing cloud solutions in a B2B SaaS environment.
- Strong expertise in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid knowledge of containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, security best practices, and data storage.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools.
- Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
