About the role

Role overview

As Principal Architect at Aera Technology, you’ll lead the architecture of our multi-cloud infrastructure. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to innovate, streamline operations, and optimize platform performance and efficiency—especially for AI/ML workloads.

Responsibilities

Architect and scale enterprise-grade AKS clusters for high concurrency and performance
Use Crossplane for Kubernetes-native provisioning of Azure services
Champion GitOps practices (e.g., Argo CD) to manage infrastructure delivery
Design and enforce secure, compliant, multi-tenant architectures
Build resilient networking topologies and optimize scalability/concurrency
Integrate observability frameworks across systems
Engineer infrastructure supporting data-intensive AI/ML pipelines (compute, storage, messaging)
Collaborate with AI/ML engineering teams on platform needs
Mentor engineering and operations teams; improve engineering practices via documentation and communication

Requirements

10+ years cloud infrastructure experience with expert-level skills in Kubernetes and Azure
Strong Infrastructure as Code skills: Terraform, Crossplane, Helm
Proven GitOps experience using Argo CD
Experience designing/operating multi-tenant SaaS with high demands on scalability, performance, and security
Observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, OpenTelemetry
Coding/automation background: GitHub Actions, Python, Terraform (plus other scripting/languages)
Deep familiarity with Azure services, including AKS, Azure Flexible MySQL, Blob Storage, Event Hubs, Key Vault
In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes networking, autoscaling, and workload orchestration for AI/ML inference
Hands-on Crossplane experience for Azure provisioning
Background with large-scale real-time streaming platforms
Strong communication and documentation skills; collaborative leadership mindset

Nice-to-haves

Prior collaboration on AI/ML infrastructure platforms or decision intelligence systems
Contributions to open-source, especially Kubernetes or cloud-native ecosystem
