About the role

Role Overview

Playwright Test Automation Engineer (Remote, US) Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript to ensure the reliability and accuracy of a mission-critical FX trading platform. You’ll collaborate with development, QA, and product stakeholders in a fast-paced, real-time environment.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright + TypeScript
Build end-to-end, integration, and regression test suites for web trading applications and APIs
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation
Partner with Product Managers, Developers, and stakeholders to improve delivery quality via automated testing
Define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and quality standards with engineering teams
Analyze test results, identify defects, and drive resolution with engineering
Create and maintain test data, mocks, and stubs for complex trading workflows
Validate UI performance and reliability under real-time trading conditions
Improve test coverage and reduce manual testing dependencies
Participate in release cycles (e.g., smoke testing and production validation)
Document test frameworks, methodologies, and best practices
Lead test automation initiatives and CI/CD quality integration

Requirements

Leadership experience in QA/testing (guiding teams and managing delivery) in Agile (Kanban) environments
Strong Playwright experience (or comparable framework)
Web application testing experience
TypeScript and JavaScript proficiency
Good knowledge of HTML5
Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
Familiarity with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
Experience testing REST APIs and web applications
Understanding of modern frontend architectures (React, Angular, or similar)
Git version control experience
Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills
Familiarity with test reporting tools and test frameworks
Experience with Jira (or similar issue tracking)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in financial systems, electronic trading, or capital markets
React programming experience
Experience with AI-assisted testing and modern QA tooling
Mocking tools such as Mock Service Worker (MSW)
Familiarity with Selenium or Cypress
Knowledge of FIX protocol or market data systems
Experience with performance/load testing tools
Experience working in Linux environments
