Platforms Engineer

Role Overview

Storyblocks is hiring a Platforms Engineer to build and operate the foundation other engineers depend on. The Platforms team owns the pipelines that ship code, the tooling that alerts when things break, and the environments developers use—treating developer experience as a product.

What You Will Do

• Build, operate, and scale AWS infrastructure supporting Storyblocks’ microservices platform
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable, and safe releases
• Create reusable, templated deployment/pipeline configuration, including:
  • Helm charts
  • CircleCI orbs
• Manage infrastructure via Infrastructure-as-Code, with rigor comparable to application code
• Improve observability and monitoring so teams can understand and debug production systems
• Partner with product engineering teams to translate platform concepts into practical guidance and reduce friction
• Make and document thoughtful technical trade-offs and grow into end-to-end ownership of complex platform projects

What You Bring to the Table

• Comfortable working in AWS and familiar with core AWS services
• Experience using observability/monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog)
• Proficient with at least one scripting or programming language
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform) or strong desire to learn
• Experience running and scaling infrastructure
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Strong ownership, communication, and developer-experience mindset
• Ability to explain platform concepts and reasoning to engineers outside infrastructure
• Willingness to learn continuously and use AI to supercharge work while keeping judgment and quality

Nice to Have

• Experience with Helm and Kubernetes (or other container orchestration)
• Familiarity with ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, and Istio
