Platform Operations Engineer

Role overview

As a Platform Operations Engineer at Dotdigital (full remote), you will design and operate production and development environments. You’ll focus on automation, high availability (24/7 uptime), and improving system reliability by partnering with cross-functional teams.

Key missions

• Design and maintain scalable infrastructure supporting both production and development environments.
• Automate deployment processes and enhance system performance to ensure 24/7 global uptime.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability and support development/operations initiatives.

Responsibilities (implied by the missions)

• Build and operate CI/CD and automation workflows.
• Improve observability and reporting to drive reliability.
• Manage infrastructure across multiple regions with Infrastructure as Code.

Requirements

• Scripting experience (required): PowerShell; Python and Bash are good.
• Observability & reporting tools experience (examples given): Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Thanos, Raygun.
• Strong CI/CD pipeline authoring skills; automation is a core expectation (uses Azure DevOps).
• Comfortable with version control: Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub.
• Infrastructure as Code experience: Terraform, Azure ARM, Bicep (must work at scale and across regions).
• Exposure to cloud-native technologies: container orchestrators, immutable infrastructure, service mesh.
• Strong cloud platform experience; preference for Azure.
• Comfortable with Linux and Windows operating systems; sysadmin background is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, network, and collaborate.
