About the role

Platform Engineer (Full Remote)

Join Speak as a Platform Engineer to ensure the reliability and resilience of the platform at massive scale. You’ll lead efforts to scale infrastructure and keep services fast, available, and dependable for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

Ensure infrastructure reliability on GCP using Kubernetes and the platform stack (Node.js / Postgres).
Lead P0/P1 incident response, run postmortems, and ensure the team learns from every outage.
Improve observability, alerting, and on-call processes to detect issues before users are impacted.
Drive initiatives to scale the platform to the next growth phase ("next 10x of users").
Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and ML teams.

Requirements

Proven experience improving reliability, scaling, and reducing incident frequency/severity in high-traffic systems.
Strong systems thinking and ability to identify failure points and proactively harden services.
Background in security, chaos engineering, or disaster recovery planning.
Experience building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment safety tooling.
Deep sense of ownership; infrastructure as a force multiplier for the organization.
Strong skills with: GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, and observability tools like Prometheus and Sentry.
Strong incident management and root-cause analysis; able to lead under pressure.
7+ years in SRE/DevOps/infrastructure roles, ideally with mentoring or leadership experience.
Familiarity with cloud-native cost optimization strategies.
Experience contributing to internal tooling, automation, or developer productivity initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

Experience in reliability/infra security practices such as chaos engineering and DR planning.
