Platform Engineer

Role Overview

You will be the first dedicated Platform Engineer at P-1 AI, owning how Archie is deployed, operated, and scaled across customer environments. A core focus is building and evolving a BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud) model where Archie runs directly inside customer infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design the BYOC deployment model: how Archie is packaged, installed, updated, and integrated with P-1’s central systems.
• Build and own Kubernetes-based infrastructure that runs reliably across multiple clouds and varied customer setups.
• Create deployment tooling using Helm, GitOps, or similar approaches to make installs and operations repeatable.
• Implement secure, reliable update mechanisms for restricted/locked-down network environments.
• Partner with product, research, and forward-deployed engineers to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
• Debug and improve production deployments, addressing performance, reliability, and operability bottlenecks.
• Establish observability/monitoring/debugging patterns for distributed systems, including visibility where you don’t fully control the environment.

Requirements

• Built and operated Kubernetes-based systems in production.
• Designed infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Implemented CI/CD or GitOps workflows for deploying across environments.
• Comfortable across AWS, GCP, and Azure, understanding core cloud primitives.
• Experience with strong security and networking constraints (e.g., VPCs, identity, encryption).
• Ability to own problems end-to-end in ambiguous 0-1 environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience deploying in sensitive customer environments and handling complex enterprise networking/security constraints.
• Demonstrated impact shaping early platform engineering practices and standards.
