About the role
Role: Platform Engineer III (Workday)
You will support and maintain Aflac’s Workday-based platform and related integrations, ensuring reliable performance, security, and successful deployments.
Work Model / Location
- Hybrid: If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, you must work in the office at least 60% of the time.
- Remote: If you live more than 50 miles away, you work from home within the continental US. You may be asked to visit the office occasionally for business needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for architectural design and maintenance of the platform environment (COTS, SaaS, ERP) with distributed components.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and security standards (implementation, auditing, and adherence).
- Plan and execute software upgrades, patching, and plugin installations.
- Monitor performance, resolve problems, and manage component capacity issues.
- Design, test, develop, configure, and maintain integrations to platform applications.
- Follow platform security and coding standards for resilience, data, and security.
- Review business requirements and deliver solutions via configuration, coding, debugging, and testing.
- Work with cross-functional teams to communicate status and technical proposals.
- Deploy and configure platform applications tailored to company needs.
Requirements
- Extensive software development experience and modern programming languages.
- Workday configuration experience.
- Workday Leave Management configuration experience.
- Workday consulting background.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in release practices and environments (or equivalent).
Nice to Have
- Workday Wellness implementation experience (big plus).
- ADP and UKG experience (big plus).
- Workday certified (implied/desired by posting).
- Strong Scrum background and advanced DevOps methodologies.
- Ability to mentor and lead junior developers.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
