Role Overview

Build and sustain Moon Tiger’s Kubernetes platform layer that supports mission application delivery for a Department of War customer. The platform must be secure, performant, and continuously evolving across hybrid environments and multiple classification levels.

Responsibilities

• Provision and manage Kubernetes cluster lifecycles
• Implement cloud-native capabilities across the CNCF ecosystem
• Provide network segmentation and traffic management
• Enforce platform security and policy controls
• Ensure operational readiness across hybrid environments at multiple classification levels
• Collaborate with application teams, security, and infrastructure engineers to maintain a secure, reliable platform

Requirements

• 8+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering
• 5+ years hands-on Kubernetes experience in production
• Experience designing and managing Kubernetes clusters across hybrid cloud and on-premises
• Proficiency with Helm, Kustomize, GitOps workflows, and service mesh (Istio)
• Strong Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent)
• Observability/monitoring integration (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Knowledge of container and cluster hardening (CIS Benchmarks, DISA STIGs)
• Scripting/automation skills in Python, Bash, and/or Go
• Experience with Azure Government or equivalent
• Familiarity with DoD RMF, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust
• CKA or CKAD certification
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent

Nice-to-Haves

• Additional security engineering experience in highly regulated/DoD environments
• Broader exposure to zero-trust and policy-as-code approaches across Kubernetes platforms
