About the role
Role overview
Platform Engineer specializing in databases at Clio. You will own the optimization, maintenance, and evolution of Clio’s MySQL infrastructure to support high-performance applications.
Key responsibilities
- Optimize, maintain, and evolve the MySQL infrastructure for performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product development teams to build tools that improve workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Investigate and resolve database performance issues across MySQL and other data stores.
- Define and drive the roadmap for database infrastructure.
Requirements / profile
- Strong willingness to develop and share MySQL expertise with the SRE team.
- Demonstrated record of successful projects (and learnings from failures).
- Ability to optimize query performance.
- Experience investigating and solving MySQL performance problems.
- Experience managing hosts with Puppet.
- Experience with database migration tooling such as pt-online-schema-change or gh-ost.
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Ruby or Golang.
- Experience using AWS with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Scripting skills with Bash.
- Familiarity with ProxySQL and the Percona toolkit.
Nice-to-haves
- Keen interest in improving your craft using AI.
