Platform Engineer

Build and automate foundational platform services and workflows that support Bold Penguin’s engineering organization and multiple teams.

What you’ll do

• Automate manual tasks and manage large-scale infrastructure across cloud environments
• Automate software delivery workflows to improve release speed, safety, and reliability
• Apply security and compliance best practices within platform workflows and data processes
• Implement monitoring and observability for automated workflows and pipelines
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and build workflow automations
• Research and propose tools/approaches to improve platform capabilities

Requirements

• Location: Fully remote (with onboarding and optional in-office events)
• 3–5 years of relevant engineering experience
• Strong software engineering background (Python or Ruby preferred) with experience in distributed, cloud-native architectures
• Containerization and debugging experience; Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
• Hands-on AWS experience building cloud-based environments
• CI/CD pipeline experience: AWS CodePipeline and GitHub Actions
• Infrastructure as Code: AWS CDK and Terraform
• Monitoring/observability concepts and tooling: DataDog and Grafana
• Understanding of security, compliance, and governance best practices

Nice to have

• Database technologies: SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS
• Data engineering: Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, Snowflake
