About the role
Platform Engineer
Type: Full-time, fully remote Location: United States (U.S. residency and work authorization required)
Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer at ArcheSys, you’ll help design, develop, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and services for public sector customers. You’ll collaborate closely with customers and internal teams in a consulting environment, acting as a problem-solver across infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Development & Maintenance
- Set up and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Develop and deploy Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Automation & Optimization
- Automate deployment processes to reduce manual effort.
- Optimize cost, system performance, and resource utilization.
- Build automation scripts/tools for installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
- CI/CD (Continuous Integration & Deployment)
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Support teams in integrating their solutions into automated pipelines.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate applications and services.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support.
- Monitoring & Incident Response
- Implement monitoring to proactively detect issues.
- Participate in incident response and help restore services.
- Set up monitoring using New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
- Contribute to alerting mechanisms to notify teams of potential problems.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Document procedures, configurations, and specifications.
- Maintain a knowledge base and contribute to technical documentation and system designs.
- Support compliance initiatives by following established IT policies and guidelines.
- Professional Development
- Stay current with cloud/DevOps best practices through internal/external training.
Requirements
- U.S. residency/work authorization: Must have lived in the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years and be authorized to work in the U.S. (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or EAD).
- Clearance: Public Trust Clearance (or ability to obtain).
Nice to Have
- Experience aligning platform/DevOps practices to compliance and public sector IT policies.
- Familiarity with multiple monitoring and CI/CD ecosystems listed above.
