About the role

Role Overview

As a Platform Engineer at Akuna Capital, you will take ownership of projects and partner with Trading, Development, Infrastructure, and Operations to improve efficiency as the company grows. The role focuses on building and operating hybrid-cloud infrastructure, automating deployments, strengthening cloud governance and security, and monitoring production systems.

Responsibilities

Leverage cloud services effectively across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, following best practices
Help manage public cloud growth and continuously improve Akuna’s hybrid-cloud operating model
Evaluate solution architectures and provide recommendations
Provision, configure, and monitor large-scale distributed technologies such as:
- Kubernetes (Amazon EKS and on-prem)
- Spark
- Kafka
- Other distributed database systems
Automate infrastructure and delivery pipelines using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools
- Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitLab
Explore and adopt cloud-native/container ecosystem technologies
Monitor systems, clusters, and cloud deployments to detect errors and track performance
Maintain performant, reliable production systems with strong engineering rigor

Requirements

3+ years experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related infrastructure roles
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Deep experience deploying, operating, and scaling production Kubernetes, especially Amazon EKS
Strong cloud infrastructure expertise on AWS (GCP experience is a plus)
Advanced proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (including reusable modules, state management, and automation)
Experience building and operating highly available, scalable, secure cloud-native platforms
Strong observability skills (monitoring, logging, alerting, troubleshooting)
Proven experience designing/maintaining CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery practices
Strong Linux systems administration and distributed troubleshooting skills
Proficiency in automation/scripting with Python or Bash
Experience with cloud-native data services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDB

Nice to Have

AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification
Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, influence architecture decisions, and mentor engineers
