Planning Manager (GOC)

Role Overview

Planning Manager (GOC) at Waymo (Full remote). You will design scalable global planning processes, manage operational ambiguity, ensure vendor accountability, mitigate operational risk, and validate/architect technical models in partnership with product, engineering, and data science teams.

Key Missions

• Own the global capacity planning framework for the Global Operations Center (GOC), acting as the primary program owner for resource scaling.
• Apply strong commercial judgment to ensure resource strategies reflect real business goals and operational constraints.
• Supervise execution of large-scale vendor partnerships, prioritizing structural efficiency and strict SLA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-organizational planning and manage dependencies during high-growth phases.
• Establish and communicate a clear "source of truth" to influence senior decision-makers.
• Validate technical models and partner with technical teams to guide data-driven planning.
• Model resource requirements for business continuity and large-scale disruption contingency planning.
• Migrate complex legacy planning models from spreadsheets into integrated enterprise platforms.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience delivering outcomes in capacity planning, commercial operations, S&OP, or strategic program management.
• Proven cross-organizational leadership and ability to manage dependencies.
• Strong communication skills and confidence presenting a reliable source of truth.
• Direct experience building/maintaining capacity models and roadmaps in scaled enterprise platforms, specifically Anaplan.
• Data querying and quantitative literacy, including SQL.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice-to-Haves

• MBA or Master’s in Business Administration, Operations, or related field.
• Experience scaling "human-in-the-loop" operations for autonomous vehicles.
• Experience managing P&L impacts and unit economics in high-growth environments.
• Exposure to BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and aligning external execution with internal plans.
• Experience migrating legacy models from spreadsheets into enterprise platforms.
