Physical Security Engineer (Electrical Focus)

Location: Fully remote (please try to stay away from California residence)

Role Overview

Security Systems Engineer specializing in physical protection systems for high-security and regulated environments. You will design, integrate, and support advanced physical security technologies that protect critical infrastructure and sensitive facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Design, integrate, and support physical security systems, including:
- Cameras and sensor platforms
- Infrared detection
- Radar, lidar, microwave sensors
- Access control technologies
Develop and support physical protection system architectures for secure/regulated facilities.
Interface security systems with plant computer systems and control networks for reliable monitoring and response.
Support upgrades and modernization, troubleshooting integrated security and I&C (instrumentation & controls) components.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance.

Qualifications

5+ years supporting physical security/protection systems in regulated or critical environments.
Ability to produce physical security design deliverables, including wiring design packages.
Experience modernizing/upgrading legacy analog camera/sensor systems to modern digital platforms.
Strong understanding of zone reconciliation/redesign, including re-mapping and re-zoning camera/sensor networks.
Instrumentation and controls concepts applied to security systems.
Understanding of physical security network engineering and system integration.
Experience supporting design documentation, system testing, and field implementation.
Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills and clear cross-functional communication.

Nice to Have

Nuclear security / nuclear physical protection experience.
Background in secure industrial facilities.
Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Working Conditions

Shift: Mon–Thu 8am–5pm; Fri 8am–12pm (4.9s + half-day Friday)
Compensation: Direct pay $90k–$130k
