PHP Laravel Full Stack Developer

Role overview

Sr. Full Stack (PHP/Laravel) Developer (Remote, U.S. Time Zones) Join a small, focused team to lead and deliver complex web applications for a successful, fast-growing sports-related platform. You’ll take ownership of critical development projects, advise on technical direction, and help plan and execute roadmap items.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex web applications using PHP/Laravel and Vue.js
• Lead design and critical development work; act as project/design lead for key initiatives
• Collaborate with business/product owners and technical teammates to design, implement, and test new features
• Coordinate parallel development streams and support vendor partners/resources as needed
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; ensure stable operation (including potential 24/7 emergency availability for critical production issues)
• Create and optimize database schemas; optimize performance and scalability
• Maintain automated testing and quality gates (e.g., PHPUnit, Laravel Dusk)
• Use modern workflows: pull requests, CI/CD, and code reviews
• Stay current on industry trends and propose improvements
• Write and maintain internal documentation; contribute to clean, maintainable code

Requirements

• Proficiency with PHP and the Laravel framework
• Strong object-oriented programming skills and understanding of MVC design patterns
• Comfortable on Linux and using Git plus appropriate build tools
• Front-end: JavaScript (ES5/ES6), HTML5, CSS3
• Back-end: MySQL or equivalent relational database
• Strong communication skills; positive, collaborative attitude
• Ability to document feature requirements and project status clearly
• Experience managing parallel workstreams and coordinating with other developers/vendors
• Experience designing and implementing automated tests (e.g., PHPUnit, Laravel Dusk)
• Proficiency with modern development workflows: PRs, CI/CD, code reviews
• Ability to responsibly leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve velocity, documentation, and testing

Nice to have

• Experience with Vue.js and/or similar front-end libraries
• Tailwind CSS
• MongoDB and/or equivalent NoSQL; Redis
• Writing/maintaining internal technical documentation
• Code maintainability and clean code practices
• Familiarity with Node.js/Express, Nginx, and web sockets
