About the role

Role Overview

People & Culture Partner to own and shape the People Operations function for a growing remote US team. You’ll act as the local People & Culture expert, supporting employees and managers across the full employee lifecycle and partnering with global teams to deliver people programs adapted to US needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day People Operations and act as a trusted advisor to employees, managers, and leadership
  • Run full-cycle recruitment: sourcing support, screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and offers
  • Partner with hiring managers to define job descriptions, interview structures, and evaluation processes
  • Lead onboarding: documentation, equipment coordination, HR system setup, and a successful new-hire start
  • Manage the employee lifecycle: hiring changes, leave management, offboarding, employee records, and HRIS maintenance
  • Support payroll administration and employee payroll questions in partnership with external payroll providers
  • Ensure US employment compliance across multiple states (wage/hour, leave policies, classifications, required documentation)
  • Maintain and improve HR policies, employee handbook content, and benefits administration
  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR questions, employee relations, and workplace support
  • Coach managers on performance discussions, engagement, and effective people management
  • Design and execute remote culture and engagement initiatives to strengthen connection and belonging
  • Manage HR systems, reporting, data accuracy, and vendor relationships
  • Collaborate with global People & Culture teams to implement programs while adapting for US requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve people processes using technology, automation, and AI-enabled solutions

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience as a US HR/People Operations/People & Culture generalist, ideally in a startup or scaling environment
  • Broad HR scope experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, payroll support, and HR administration
  • Strong understanding of US employment laws and HR practices across multiple states
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll, and benefits platforms (e.g., Gusto, BambooHR, or similar)
  • Ability to operate independently as the primary People representative while leveraging global support
  • Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear, empathetic, and approachable communication
