Payroll Manager

Role Overview

Mosaic is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead a team with hands-on payroll expertise. This is a 100% remote role where you will actively manage day-to-day payroll operations while coaching and developing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Lead & Develop: Hire, coach, and build accountability; create a supportive, highly engaged team environment.
• Full-Cycle Payroll: Run and oversee multi-state payroll processing, off-cycle runs, garnishments, and audits for accurate and timely results.
• Tax & Compliance (SME): Own complex payroll tax and regulatory requirements, including:
  • In-house payroll tax filings
  • Reconciliations
  • Year-end processing
  • Tax notice resolution
• Innovate & Improve: Use a growth mindset to analyze systems/workflows, prevent recurring issues, and lead testing and system upgrades (PeopleSoft).
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Accounting, Finance, HR, and Operations to resolve discrepancies, ensure wage/hour compliance, and align payroll processes with organizational needs.

Requirements

• Hands-on in-house payroll experience and multi-state payroll tax management, including direct tax filings, notices, and reconciliations.
• Experience leading/coaching a team through performance and change.
• Strong root-cause problem solving and continuous process improvement mindset.
• Associate’s degree in HR, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in a payroll supervisory/management role.
• Experience with multi-state payroll, complex wage/hour laws, and enterprise systems.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience leading functional testing and system upgrades in PeopleSoft.
