Patient Advocate

Role Overview

The Patient Advocate serves as the liaison between patients and healthcare providers, helping patients with medical billing and communications.

Responsibilities

• Manage 60–80 inbound and outbound patient calls on medical bills
• Use the Cedar platform to respond to patient questions via live chat, phone, and email, including outbound call campaigns
• Run and follow through on escalations to healthcare providers
• Lead payment posting and follow up on defaulted payments
• Follow up with insurance and other third parties
• Meet assigned team and individual metrics related to satisfaction and collections performance

Skills & Experience

• 2–3 years of customer service experience via phone/call center
• 1–2 years of medical billing, insurance, or related healthcare experience
• Experience navigating electronic medical record systems (preferably: Athena, eClinicalWorks, Medik, CareVoyant, NextGen, Epic)
• Proficiency in Google Suite
• Ability to toggle between multiple systems and type efficiently
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Empathy and passion for excellent customer service
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking
• Comfortable with ambiguity and a changing environment
• Flexibility with schedule from time to time

Remote Requirements

• Fully remote role requiring access to a private space at home

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate: $19.47–$21.64 (subject to location, experience, and education)
