Operations Manager / Project Manager at MyFriendBen, a remote U.S. role with a preference for candidates in or near the Denver, CO metro and occasional work from the Denver hub as needed. Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a hands-on execution role that keeps the organization running smoothly and coordinates cross-team projects as the nonprofit expands into new states.

Responsibilities

Operations

  • Own day-to-day organizational operations, including contracts administration, vendor coordination, and internal systems (project management, communication, and documentation tools).
  • Support budget administration: track expenses, process invoices, and assist with budget updates with the Executive Director.
  • Maintain internal policies, processes, and documentation to support a growing multi-state team.
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors (e.g., payroll, IT, tools/software) and evaluate new partners/tools as needs evolve.
  • Identify and implement improvements to internal operations as the organization expands.

Project management

  • Coordinate cross-team projects from kickoff to completion: define scope, timelines, owners, and deliverables.
  • Run internal project tracking: maintain the project management system, surface risks/blockers, and keep stakeholders informed.

  • Prepare internal reports and updates on operational metrics and project status.

Requirements

  • Strong organization and project management skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit operations, including budgeting basics, contracts, and vendor management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to build trust and coordinate across a remote, distributed team.
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented, comfortable operating independently in a small, fast-growing nonprofit.
  • Proficiency with project management, communication, and operations tools; quick to learn new systems.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in operations, project management, or administration (preferably nonprofit or startup environment).
