Role Overview

Contract OpenSCAD Developer (Remote) for developing production-ready CAD models.

Responsibilities

Develop, document, and optimize OpenSCAD scripts for simple and complex CAD models
Convert conceptual sketches into detailed, production-ready designs
Create diverse geometries using advanced OpenSCAD features such as:
- Boolean operations
- Lists, list comprehensions, and flow control
Build 3D forms using techniques including:
- linear_extrude
- rotate_extrude
- minkowski
Construct 3D shapes from 2D outlines/shadows and efficiently place primitives in the design space
Design repeatable components using nesting and loop constructs

Deep, hands-on proficiency in OpenSCAD (experience with other CAD systems is not sufficient)
Strong command of OpenSCAD syntax, constants, operators, special variables, and modifier characters
Proven expertise creating and transforming 2D/3D objects, including boolean operations
Essential experience with advanced OpenSCAD features:
- lists and list comprehensions
- flow control
- type test functions
Practical knowledge of the OpenSCAD interface and workflow
Fluent written and verbal communication to explain technical concepts
