About the role

Role Overview

Node.js Developer (Angular/NodeJS) — Remote, full-time Join the Veterans Affairs (VA) team to build, support, and migrate a cloud-based healthcare web dashboard. The application processes EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) transactions used in healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and migrate a cloud web dashboard that processes healthcare EDI transactions with high performance and reliability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java and Node.js to retrieve, transform, and serve healthcare records.
  • Integrate APIs with internal platform services, EDI processing pipelines, and data repositories to provide accurate real-time and historical transaction data.
  • Enhance an Angular front-end dashboard by consuming APIs and developing components for clinical and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with back-end C#/.NET developers and AWS data engineers to define API contracts, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data delivery.
  • Write clean, documented, testable code and participate in code reviews.
  • Perform unit and integration testing across services to identify and resolve defects.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong back-end experience with Java and/or Node.js.
  • Front-end experience with Angular.
  • Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, particularly in healthcare/enterprise environments.
  • Experience with structured data formats such as XML and JSON.
  • Healthcare data / EDI experience is highly desirable, including X.12, 837, and 834.
  • Strong AWS cloud knowledge, including API Gateway, Lambda, and S3.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work independently and in distributed teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance.

  • Relevant certifications (not mandatory).
