Node Engineer / Backend

Role Overview

Senior Node.js Backend Engineer for a high-performance trading and analytics platform. You’ll evolve the backend infrastructure behind algorithmic trading tools, data ingestion pipelines, large-scale backtesting engines, and a custom scripting environment used by thousands of market participants.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and maintain Node.js microservices handling tens of thousands of messages per second
• Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines for market, fundamental, and alternative datasets
• Improve observability: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting
• Implement core business logic for charting, scanning, backtesting, and scripting engines
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with strong performance focus
• Manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform for AWS-managed services
• Work directly with PostgreSQL and MongoDB (no ORMs), scaling read/write workloads
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and event-driven system issues
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ship trading ideas as production-grade software

Requirements

• Deep Node.js experience, including performance profiling, memory management, and event-loop optimization
• Hands-on Terraform experience (e.g., AWS RDS, Lambda, SQS)
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB at scale
• Solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms

Nice-to-haves

• Kubernetes familiarity (configuring clusters; building/managing is a plus)
• Microservices experience with many independently deployed services
• Testing discipline and experience with CI/CD, containerization, monitoring, and alerting
• Curiosity about financial markets; hands-on trading/strategy development
• Bonus: C++ and/or Java systems-performance experience
• Bonus: Professional proficiency in Russian or Ukrainian
